Mobilizing citizens to advocate for Natural & Fiscal Justice Project –2020

 

Objectives

  • Develop capacities of Community Environmental Advocacy Groups (CEMAGs) to use simple methods and tools to monitor environmental pollution of oil contaminants.
  • Provide inputs for the review of the National Oil Spillage Contingency Plan
  • Develop proposals on Annual Budget Funding Amount (ABFA) monitoring concerns and allocations to the subnational level to the Ministry of Finance.

Results

Expanded knowledge and skills of 60 CEMAGs (36 females and 24 males) including teachers and young students from 4 schools within Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis on simple methods and tools for monitoring environmental pollution of oil contaminants.

EPA adopts nine (9) recommendations in FoN’s Policy brief on the Gap Analysis and Recommendations to integrate biodiversity reforms into the National Oil Spill Contingency plan

Manifesto developed and submitted to the Ministry of Finance by Queen mothers from Western and Volta Regions on the Annual Budget Funding Amount to maintain agriculture and target women in the 2021 budget.

New business ideas and opportunities identified in the local content value chain of the Petroleum industry to improve the operations of women entrepreneurs.

Expanded women’s access to local content and local participation opportunities in the supply chain of the petroleum industry.
